Look, I agree that it was pretty lame to cast someone as Khan that looks nothing like Khan, especially considering that Star Trek really tends to emphasize continuity when it comes to character appearance.
I just don’t get how folks are perfectly cool with the idea that James Bond be portrayed by a black man, but Khan being white pisses you off? Why aren’t all of your lofty arguments about race not mattering in a fictional universe applicable? (And I fully admit I rather prefer continuity when it comes to fictional characters, no matter what their race is. I wouldn’t want white Cyborg or Black Panther any more than a white Khan, or Mandarin for that matter)
Really, it seems like a lot of folks are hypocritical about this stuff. (Or, maybe just a lot of folks on Tumblr.)
how do people just not understand that its not about being mean to white people with established acting careers and pooping on ol whitey tighty
its about giving minorities a chance to be represented and have characters to look up to?? its trying to stop the only parts minorities get being thugs or throwaway parts or if youre will smith you can get “sassy black action man”. khan was a part that could have gone to an actor that wasnt a melting church candle but we got cumbles instead
amazing

You know, I'm pretty sure several of the folks I follow complaining that Khan was portayed by a white actor are the same folks who were cheering when someone suggested that Idris Elba play James Bond...
