Artist Robert DuGrenier has created future homes for hermit crabs by hand-blowing glass shells called Crabitats. The shells are available in a variety of sizes, colours and patterns, all of which are transparent. While not many people have hermit crabs as pets, the Crabitats have actually been created to provide a new home for crabs who arre unable to find a larger shell naturally because humans collect them from the seabeds.
