PIXELLATION [aka PIXELATION]
[noun]
1. in computer graphics, pixellation is caused by displaying a bitmap or a section of a bitmap at such a large size that individual pixels, small single-coloured square display elements that comprise the bitmap, are visible. Such an image is said to be pixellated.
2. to blur (parts of a digital image) by creating unclear, pixel-like patches, for purposes of censorship or to maintain the anonymity of the subject.
