I NEVER REALIZED
are you serious
I always assumed wizards just ignored science, because the fact that “magic” exists, can explain anything. But there are MuggleBorn wizards, ones who, until they were eleven, lived in the real world and learned science and things. Did they all just abandon that normal, muggle knowledge, like Harry did? It’s always been there, itching in the back of my mind.

The son of a chemical researcher for the British military, Everett Pidgeon’s magical ability first manifested at the age of ten. Before him sat a simple pewter figurine of a dragon, one of many he had collected over the years. He envisioned the Table of Elements, knowing that this dragon was comprised of tin, copper, bismuth, lead. He imagined separating the alloy, leaving perfect spheres of each element. He imagined the small sphere of lead, and what it would take to morph it into a different metal.
Just three protons.
Three protons per atom, added to the chain, would turn this element into that one. He closed his eyes, imagining the sphere growing, growing, until he could physically manipulate the atoms themselves as though they were apples on a tree. He took three apples from his pocket, and tied them gently to a branch.
When he opened his eyes, the wings of the dragon had turned to gold.
